Gospel of Luke, chapter 2:19

Mary is described in the Gospel of Luke as one who pondered God’s word in her heart. All over the world, groups of Christians are meeting each week to reflect on their spiritual lives and to assess what is happening to them by the standards of the Gospel. It is time for more and more people to engage in spiritual reflection and growth in order to lead us into world harmony and to avoid the ravages of sin. Let us make this our new years resolution be sensitive to what God wants of us, to listen to His word and to act on it.

On this new year’s day, let’s listen also to the voices in our world calling us to peace. We can make a difference if we put our own house in order and work together for a better world. We are living in what if called a ’pluralistic’ society, that is, a world made up of different cultures. Our parish is an example of this pluralism. We have parishioners from all over the world ; from different continents-from Canada and north America, from south and central America, from Europe and Asia. We all worship together in relative harmony because we share the same faith that binds us together. We must keep working on keeping the faith so that we can be a united community that takes care of each other, and that is at peace.

Happy New Year!
